PORT OF LEITH
The district
of Leith on the eastern
coast of Scotland is the
home of one of the country’s
busiest ports, which was
originally constructed in
the 1300s and expanded
several times since. Today
it is the largest enclosed
deep-water port in Scotland.
Leith’s
location directly to the
north of
Edinburgh, the capital
and second-largest city of
Scotland, has given it a
great deal of significance,
both today and in the past.
Because of the district’s
value as a major port, as
well as its interesting
history and its proximity to
the capital, cruise lines
often make stops at
Leith.
